Restoring our History - Call to Take Part State Care Monuments Survey

The Department for Communities, Historic Environment Division (HED) has launched a public survey to get feedback on and hear the thoughts about the management of historic monuments and sites across Northern Ireland. The main focus of the survey is to get an understanding of the priorities when conserving monuments and to ask for the public’s help to rank what they see as most important, which historic sites and monuments should be prioritised for preservation and maintenance.

Guidance for the sustainable management of the historic environment

Northern Ireland currently has around 52,000 recorded heritage assets, and approximately a quarter of these are protected by formal designation. The Department for Communities also has responsibility for 190 monuments in state care.
